With the algorithm on Instagram constantly changing and confusing users, it’s important to know how to boost your Instagram post.
There are many ways to do this, but we’re going to focus on organically boosting your posts.
Of course, you can pay to use Instagram posts. Feel free to try this if you’re at your last resort!
How To Pay To Boost Instagram Post
Before we talk about how to organically boost Instagram posts, we’ll discuss paid ads.
You can definitely push your post out by paying for an Instagram ad every now and then.
There are many pros and cons to doing this. You’re guaranteed to reach more people, but research has found that you don’t often reach the number of people that Instagram promises. Therefore, you might waste some money using Instagram ads.
We’ll share how to do it anyway.
First, you’ll need to set up a business profile. This is completely free and you don’t need to be a business to have one.
Once that’s set up, post a photo on Instagram. If you click on the photo, you’ll see the option to promote. If your account isn’t already linked to Facebook, it’ll ask you to do this now. It only takes a second or two.
After that, you can choose where to send people: your profile, website or direct messages. If you are trying to get new followers for your Instagram account, you’ll want to send people to your profile.
Next, you can choose your target audience. You’ll have the automatic option but research shows that creating your own works much better.
You get to choose where the audience is in the world, what their interests are, the age and gender.
If you are promoting a post about fashion, you’ll want to target people with an interest in fashion. You can choose more specific criteria such as shoes, sustainability or modern chic.
Next, choose your budget and duration. Start small if you’ve never done this before. When you choose your budget and duration, Instagram will give you an estimate of how many people you will reach with this post.
Remember, this is just an estimate!
Once you’ve done all this, you will add a payment method and create the promotion. Viola, you’re boosting your Instagram post.
However, this isn’t a viable option if you don’t have a lot of spare cash, so in this post, we’ll focus on how to organically boost Instagram posts.
Post Quality Content Only To Boost Instagram Post
If you want to boost Instagram posts organically, the first and most important step is to post quality content. You want to stop people in their tracks when they’re using Instagram.
If we take a look at a few Instagram accounts, we can see which posts get the most likes by what stands out the most.
For example, on @bluestockingbookshelf, when they post an exceptionally outstanding photo, it automatically gets more likes.
This photo, while beautiful, isn’t that eye-catching. The colors are bright, for sure, but there are only three props on a basic background. Plus, it’s not a super recognizable book, so not many people will stop to see what Jen thinks of it.
However, if they photograph super aesthetic book covers and well-known books, they can easily get triple the number of likes.
In the photo above, they photograph famous classic novels in a beautiful lesser-known edition. Plus the caption is short and they ask a question which encourages their followers to engage with them!
The same goes for @prettylittlefawn. With a photo like this, their followers won’t necessarily know who posted it when scrolling past it in their feed. While it’s a gorgeous room, it doesn’t scream extraordinary on Instagram.
However, when they post unique and top quality images, their engagement skyrockets.
In this gorgeous shot, @prettylittlefawn got over 20,000 likes! Of course, the photograph is exceptional. It has a classic Vogue feel to it.
Not only is it a great shot and angle, but the props are also amazing. The dress is gorgeous and the old car is guaranteed to get any Instagram follower to stop in their tracks.
Plus, the more likes your photo gets, the better chance you have of being featured in the explore page! Once you’re there, your likes will just kaboom! Loads of new people will see your post. Quality images definitely help organically boost Instagram posts.
Post When Engagement Is High
If you have a business account, you’ll be able to see when your followers are most active.
In fact, if you Google when people are most active, you’ll get a lot of different results. But that’s just silly because it varies for everyone’s account. If most of your followers are in Australia, and you read an article about USA Instagrammers, you’ll end up posting when all of your followers are sleeping.
You need to look at your graphs. Even though the results might be obvious, it still takes some trial and error.
In this graph, the peak time is 6 pm. For some of you, it might work to post at 6 pm. This is a great way to organically boost Instagram posts by consistently posting when your engagement is highest!
However, you might find that it works best to post at 9 am if this is what your graph looks. Because your followers are busy for a full 12 hours, your post can get great traction for this full period of time.
By the time 6 pm rolls around and it’s a peak time, Instagram will push your post out even further because it’s already quite popular.
You definitely need to find out what works for you to boost Instagram posts. Everyone’s followers respond differently so test the waters every few weeks, but try and be consistent for a few days or weeks before changing your pattern.
You might be sick of this word but it’s a major key to organically boosting Instagram posts. If you want to grow your followers, you need to engage, engage, engage!
Most people would recommend spending at least an hour a day engaging on Instagram.
A good tip is to have an hour set aside when you are going to post. If you post at 6 pm, for example, log on to Instagram at 5:50 and start engaging with other posts, replying to comments, DMs and posting Instagram stories. Once you’ve been active for a little while and people see you’re online, it’s a great time to post your Instagram post.
Make sure your caption is as good as your photo. Try asking a question of the day to get people to engage with your post. The more comments your post has, the further it will reach.
Once you have posted, organically boost Instagram posts by replying to comments right away. While your followers are still online, this is the perfect time to respond to comments. The dialogue can definitely continue longer if you’re both online, which means your post will have even more comments.
@stefiereads is great at replying to comments immediately on Instagram. For that reason, her posts get a lot of great interaction online.
@frombeewithlove is also pro at replying to comments and DMs in good time. In fact, let her caption inspire you! She asks a question right away but she also talks about a few different things in her caption: how fast the year is going, her new theme and her new character. There’s definitely something in there for everyone to respond to!
So definitely take all of these tips into account to organically boost Instagram posts. You’ll be ditching those paid ads in no time!
